About Love Kidwelly
Love Kidwelly is a partnership approach to coordinate a 2024 summer of events that will maximise Kidwelly’s tourist potential and build community cohesion.
The Project is funded by the UK Government via the Ten Towns Revenue Fund which is administered by Carmarthenshire County Council
We will be encouraging and supporting other groups and businesses to create their own events. By an event, it could be something large, or something like arranging a special walking event. Can be diverse, such as a music festival, to arranging for a circus to come to town.
The project will see us bring the community together to support one another. Caru Cydweli/Love Kidwelly will be a new way of working together to promote the town, its communities and people. The whole ethos is not to be in competition, but to promote partnership working to promote Kidwelly. Show everyone what is great about the area.
Our Aims
Partnership
Bringing a partnership approach to the whole thing and working with all the accommodation providers, shops and local businesses to maximise Kidwelly’s potential.
Community
Create a list of community mentors who have the necessary skills eg marketing or event organising to support new events. They will have knowledge of marketing, risk assessments, or even booking acts.
Local
Use local suppliers and businesses (within 5 miles etc) to cut down on carbon footprint and support local.
Train Volunteers
Recruit and train a group of volunteers who will support the event holders to help with e.g. setting up, stewarding or even helping by promoting the event.
Stakeholders wanted
Are you a local business owner, a volunteer or interested in Kidwelly Town? We are looking for community stakeholders to join our steering group to help provide feedback to the project and publicise it.
The steering group will meet/share information regularly and there will be terms of reference available for the post.
